Mr. Chairoj Meedaeng, governor of Phitsanulok province, presided over a ceremony to open an event to mark the National Mother’s Day and Thai Women’s Day 2012, which encourages women to band together in honor of Her Majesty the Queen. The ceremony was held at the La Paloma Hotel in Phitsanulok province.
Ms. Praphapun Soikham, chairperson of a committee overseeing women’s empowerment in the province, made known that her committee has teamed up with the provincial office of the Community Development Department in holding the event to demonstrate the power of women from nine districts of the province. A total of 600 woman representatives joined in the ceremony honoring Her Majesty the Queen this morning. The ceremony included the presentation of certificates to 14 outstanding women in the province and other activities such as a women’s singing contest.
The event aims at promoting the importance of Thai women’s roles on the occasion of the Thai Women’s Day, as well as allowing an exchange of ideas and experience on careers for women.
